Almost GreatNov 08, 2010
By Robert Weinstein I purchased this TV to replace a Panasonic 65" Plasma TV. First of all let me say how delighted I am with Amazon's customer service and policies, when I first ordered the TV I mistakenly ordered the non-3D version of it, and did not realize my mistake until after it had been shipped to me. However, Amazon's policies on TV purchases made it possible for me to cancel the order and receive a complete refund! As far as the TV itself is concerned, the main drawback I have found is it's relative dimness when compared to the plasma TV it replaced. I really found it necessary to only use this TV in a darkened room to really appreciate it. The other drawbacks I found were 1) The TV was completely dead upon original installation, and even though I was using professional installers it took them an hour of messing with it trying to get a picture, before they called Mitsubishi customer service who advised them to unplug the TV, wait a minute or two, and thn plug in again to allow the internal computer to reset itself. Secondly, I am using the TV with a Sony PS3 as it's 3D input, and after hooking everything up, I was unable to get a 3D image. When I called Mitsubishi, they told me it was necessary to return the PS3 to Sony for a firmware update. This was not true. After reading reviews of other 3D TVs I found it was only necessary to properly set up the display properties in the Playstation settings menu. Once all this was done, I found the overall experience to be absolutely breathtaking with both Blu-Ray 3D movies and the Avatar 3D game. I am using the Mitsubishi shutter glasses and the overall experience is much better than with the red/blue or polarized glasses you are given in the theaters showing 3D movies. I recommend this TV if you want the size and are able to darken the room you are using it in. I have never watched a 3D plasma set so I cannot comment on whether their 3D is as impressive as on this set.

I don't want to rehash all of the great things people have already said about this TV, simply put it has an amazing picture and is HUGE! My wife calls it obnoxious because of it's size......darn right it is and I LOVE IT!
Here are my Advanced Settings:
Picture Mode = ADV Deep Field Imager = ON Super Resolution = HIGH Edge Enhance = ON Video Noise = HIGH Brightness = 45 Contrast = 60 Color = 31 Tint = 31 Sharpness = 10
Gamma = 2.2 Red High = 933 Green High = 970 Blue High = 1023 Red Low = -1 Green Low = 1 Blue Low = -1 Blue Only = OFF (obviously) Red Adjust = 16, 0, 0 Green Adjust = 0, 17, 0 Blue Adjust = 0, 0, 15 Magenta Adjust = 16, 5, 15 Cyan Adjust = 0, 20, 15 Yellow Adjust = 15, 15, 0 Film Mode = AUTO Smooth 120 = ON Lamp Energy = STANDARD
This will give you a very good picture for just about every type of video, TV show, movie, DVD, etc.

Worth every penny...Dec 16, 2010

I had this set delivered 11/6/10 from Walt's TV(ask for Miles, he's a real pro). I was replacing a Mitsu WD-65833, and I wanted the bigger size for gaming/watching blu-rays. It's a great experience, there's nothing as immersive an 82" screen for Call of Duty Black Ops or epic blu-rays(Braveheart, Gladiator, Saving Private Ryan, Lord of the rings, etc.). If you're never going to have a front projector w/ a separate home-theater room, this is da bomb baby. I'm the envy of all my friends, believe me. Do the top of the line Panasonic plasmas have a better picture out of the box? Yes. So do what I did-get it professionally calibrated by an ISF certified technician($300-$400). Since then I've no regrets whatsoever. The now near-perfect picture quality makes this set a must buy for gaming/home theater enthusiasts! BTW, I was able to talk Walts TV down even lower than their price listed here on Amazon which at this time is $3200...
UPDATE: Many people ask me what stand I use, as picture height is a concern w/ a screen this size. I'm very satisfied with & recommend the Plateau CRX-2V64. You can google it or try Stands Online.

Just what I wanted !Jan 20, 2011

This Tv was an upgrade from a Toshiba 65" Rear Projection. All I can say is WOW! It is amazing in every way. I havn't a single complaint, and I am so glad that Mitsubishi has a firmware update making it compatable with almost all the 3D players out there without the converter box.
I am using the Oppo bdp-93 Blu-ray player for Blu-ray and 3D content and it is just amazing. The color is excellent and you feel as if you are right there in the action. The Mitsu..82838 supports 36 bit "Deep Color" as does my Oppo bdp-93 Blu-ray. With them both set to 36bit "Deep Color" it is truily a "Breathtaking" experience. Watch Avatar with this player and this Tv and you will see what I mean. TV's like these are never done justice in the store because they aren't usually set up right and most are placed on stande then on a shelf and you end up looking up at them making the picture less pleasing than at proper seating level. I personally don't like the LED tv's at the store. Most Tv stores have the Tv's refresh rate turned up so high that every movie that I have ever seen on them looks fake. When a picture is literally clearer than reel life it takes the "realism" out of the movie. Its a bit hard to explain..maybe its just me :)
I purchased the optional WiFi adaptor and It works great, I just hope they add YouTube support to their list. The 16 speaker sound bar on the Diamond searies gives programing an excellent surround affect. I also like the fact that the Tv has a sub input on the back so you can get that needed bass lift. The Tv has the option of using the Tv's sound bar as the center channel speaker in a surround setup via the "Line Out" outputs. Included with the Tv is a Microphone to calibrate the sound bar. It goes through a series of noises to determine room and proper listening position per the microphone placement.
I could go on about what I like but to truily appreciate it you need to own it. Over all I totally recommend this Tv. Lots of drooling from guests to :)

Blinking green light of deathJan 27, 2011
By Prince of Wales Purchased this in September 2010, Jan 2011, just 4 months later I get the blinking green light of death and the TV refuses to turn on. Google "mitsubishi blinking green light" and you will see that this problem has been around for ages with no solution in sight. Obviously under warranty now, but this looks like a problem that can occur at any time, and if you read the posts, is because of poor quality electronic components that cost less than $10. Of course mitsubishi will replace the entire module, so that the repair without warranty would cost $700 to $900. It's just shocking that this problem is still around with the latest generation of DLP TVs. On the forums, I've read about people contacting the Mitsubishi corporate office, CEO etc, all to no avail.
