5Great Printer for Home OfficeMay 23, 2010
By Stephen Gamble "Music Maven"
To some this printer might seem to be overkill for a home office but sometimes it comes down to a lack of options. Most of the consumer printers I looked at were multifunctin and I just need high quality printing with color. Most of the consumer printers have thier technology in the print cartridges so looking at the cost of replacing all the cartridges at one time and you could buy a new printer. That what I was faced with on my existing HP printer These cartridges are not cheap either but are high volume.
Amazing print quality, high speed, works with Windows 7. Thought I was being smart by downloading the latest Drivers/software from Epson. Bad idea. the print monitor doesn't work in the downloaded version. Use what comes on the CD with the printer and the install is no problem.
I did buy directly from epson the print duplexer for double-sided printing. Worth the approx $150 to save on paper and be green. You must remember to enable it though on each print job but works great.
Cons: none
Enjoy !!!!

5Excellent General-Purpose PrinterMar 07, 2011
By Crusty Analyst (Retired) "brandzip"
I have been into computers since the first consumer products existed (kits then).
Now retired, I have been associated with printers for a long time.

Our last home general purpose printer was an HP 990-cse. I thought it would last forever. It almost did! Finally, it faded and died.
Ahh...new printers. The research started. I was very familiar with Tektronix Phaser, and HP Color LaserJet and Designjet printers at work. This application is home use. I already have an excellent photo printer, so my need was for general purpose.

The color laser printers for home use required fuser warmup if not used regularly. I wanted a printer to start off relatively quickly.

I DID NOT want an all-purpose machine (fax-copier-printer-scanner). Too much to go wrong, and I already had an excellent scanner.

The BIG problem was supplies. Both home color laser and most inkjet printers had moved to horrendously small portion, large price toners and cartridges.

The printers were relatively cheap by comparison (inkjet) to the "old=days"......but the maintenance supplies made up the difference. (think drug prices).

My searching led me to the Epson B-310N. Fast, color, generally worry free, and HUGH ink cartridges. They are still expensive...but. The ink design is similar to the big HP Designjets. Cartridges plug into a place on the left front of the printer. They do not move with the printer head. It is also very, very FAST!! (Did I say fast?) As fast as a good laser with less warm-up time. It can also hold more than a ream of paper. I bought one from amazon, thinking I could return it in 30 days if not up to my expectations (I had never seen one "in-the-flesh"). Set up was extremely easy (Vista 32-bit, USB 2.0 interface). It worked perfectly from the start, and it still does. Amusingly, it cost exactly as much as the hp-990cse when it first came out.

Very satisfied!

5Superb Printer!!Jan 23, 2012
By Jimbo
Within the past year, I have purchased two of these Epson B310N printers and both are used in a home office business. I have used since 1996 a number of printers for business including the HP Laserjet 8550, a number of HP inkjets, and none have compared to the quality printing that these machines produce. The ink consumption is relatively low for business use, found that the black cartridge gets well over 3,000 copies at 5% coverage, and on color work, I am producing about 4,000 copies per cartridge. I primarly use 65# to 80# cardstock which works well with the rear feeder. Printing envelopes is a "True Breeze" with these machines. One machine, using the rear feeder, will print at high speed in the fine print setting, 500 No. 10 envelopes in 20 minutes with very little ink useage. If you are printing volume in business, or ocassional home use, this machine AND THE INK is well worth the money!!

5Wonderful PrinterMay 25, 2012
By Teresa Bell
I love this printer and this is my second after an extended warranty company could not repair my original printer and I couldn't wait to replace the Epson 4020 that I had to buy waiting for a decision on the repair. This is a quiet and very fast printer and a veritable workhorse - similar to the HP business inkjet printers of 10-15 years ago. Ink is expensive but there is more of it and it lasts a long time...unlike other companies where the ink is cheaper than the printer. Would highly recommend this printer to anyone who does a lot of printing and needs quality.

This item also shipped extremely fast from Amazon.

5The greatestMay 06, 2012

I got tired of buying the typical home variety printers. Been through about 6 already. Poor quality, slow and you have to pawn your first born to buy ink. My used printers do make great door stops and flower planters for the office. This printer is solidly built, fast, good quality text and photo, LAN capable and most of all it has he-man size ink tanks that cost only a few bucks more than those wimpy little ones. So far, I'm impressed with this printer. I hope it doesn't disappoint me.
